Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… Julian thing, the 1938 one. I ain’t no scholar, mind you, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. But I’ll tell ya what I know, or what I can make sense of from all this fancy talk.
So, it seems like this Julian fella, maybe Julian Steward, was diggin’ around in the dirt back in the 1930s. He was findin’ all sorts of things, like old pots and pans, maybe even bones. Sounds like he was lookin’ into them basin-plateau natives, kinda like how we used to dig for potatoes in the garden, only he was lookin’ for old stuff. They call it “excavations,” these fancy folks do.
- He wrote some stuff down too.
- Published a book maybe, or a paper or somethin’ in 1938.
- Government probably paid for it, seein’ as it says “U.S. Govt Print Off” on it.
Now, this here Julian P. Boyd, he was another one writin’ things down in 1938. But he weren’t diggin’ in the dirt, no sirree. He was lookin’ at old papers and maps, stuff from a long time ago, like between 1736 and 1763. Talkin’ ’bout some fella named Benjamin Franklin and his partner, David Hall. Sounds like they were important folks back then, not like us ordinary folk, you know? They made maps and wrote things, kept records I reckon.
Then there’s somethin’ about this fella Julian Abele. He lived from 1881 to… well, it don’t say when he died, but he was from Philadelphia, just like that Benjamin Franklin fella. Seems like he was a somebody, maybe a builder or a maker of important places, ’cause they got his picture in some university archive. And this Abele, he weren’t part of the diggin’ or the writin’ in 1938, see, but his name popped up and since it’s all about “Julian” in 1938, it seems like he belongs here too.
Anyways, I reckon 1938 was a busy year for these Julian fellas, one way or another. One diggin’, one writin’ about old maps, and one who did important work sometime around then. It’s a whole lotta history, all tangled up like a ball of yarn, makes an old woman like me dizzy just thinkin’ about it. But it’s interesting, you know? Learnin’ about what happened before we got here.
It’s like that time I found an old rusty horseshoe in the back field. Made me wonder who dropped it there, what their life was like. These Julian fellas, they’re kinda like that horseshoe, a little piece of the past that tells us somethin’ about the folks who came before us. And it’s important to remember, you know? Even if we don’t understand all the fancy words, we can still appreciate the stories.
And that’s all I gotta say about Julian. 1938. Diggin’, writin’, and buildin’. A whole lotta history, just like I said. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. My stomach’s rumblin’ somethin’ fierce. And talkin’ bout history don’t fill no bellies.
Speaking of important fellas though, like the Frankin one… there’s them great Cardinals players…Stan Musial, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock… all them fellas made history too, just in a different way. Like the diggin’ Julian, they dug deep in their games. And like the writin’ Julian, they got folks writin’ about them too. It’s all connected, you see, just like that big ole tangled up yarn ball. Now get outta here and leave an old woman to her chores.
